Frequently asked questions(5)
This happens with insufficient light. Croton requires bright, diffused light for at least 4-6 hours daily. Move the plant closer to a window or provide supplemental lighting. Younger leaves may also be less vibrant.
In summer (during growing season), water once every 2-3 days, keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged. In winter, reduce watering to once every 5-7 days. The key criterion is that the top soil layer should dry 1-2 cm between waterings.
Possible causes: drafts, sudden temperature drops, cold water, dry air, or overwatering. Check conditions: temperature should not drop below 18°C, air humidity should be 60-80%, water with room-temperature settled water. Avoid cold and drafts.
Use one of these methods: daily leaf misting (2-3 times per day), placing the pot on a tray with wet ceramite or pebbles, installing a humidifier. A warm shower once a week is very beneficial.
Best time is spring and summer (March-August). Propagate with 10-15 cm long tip cuttings. Root them in water or moist substrate with rooting hormone. Rooting takes 2-4 weeks at 22-25°C with high humidity.
