Frequently asked questions(5)
Sow seeds for seedlings in March at a temperature of 20-23°C. Plant seedlings in open ground at the end of May or beginning of June, after frost danger has passed.
Lack of light, heat above 30°C, excess nitrogen in fertilizers, or too frequent watering can reduce flowering. Provide the plant with at least 5-6 hours of direct sun and use phosphate-potassium fertilizers to stimulate flowering.
Very briefly - one flower lives only a few hours (hence the English name 'Flower-of-an-hour'). However, the bush forms many new buds, so flowering is continuous from June to September.
Wait for seed pods to fully mature and dry directly on the plant (yellowing), collect them, and lay them in a warm place to dry. Store seeds in an airtight container in a cool place; viability is maintained for 2-3 years.
In regions with winter, hibiscus is cultivated as an annual. In warm climates (zone 9-11), the bush can overwinter and grow as a perennial, but growth will be slower. It's easier to grow new plants from seeds each year.
