Frequently asked questions(5)
Best to plant honeysuckle in spring (March-April) or autumn (October-November) in temperate climates. Choose a location with full sun or partial shade. The bush prefers well-drained loamy or sandy loam soils with pH 5.5-7.0.
Borealis honeysuckle is an upright medium-sized bush (up to 180 cm) that usually does not require support. However, in the first year it is recommended to install a stake for seedling stabilization in strong winds.
During the growing season (April-September) water 2-3 times per week, ensuring moisture at 30 cm depth. Young seedlings require more frequent watering. In dry summer periods increase frequency to 3-4 times per week.
In spring (April) apply nitrogen fertilizers for foliage growth. During flowering and fruiting period (May-July) use phosphorus-potassium fertilizers (once every 10 days). In autumn feed with universal fertilizer to prepare for winter.
Berries ripen in June-July. Harvest them as they turn completely dark blue (dark blue color with purple bloom), preferably in the morning for maximum freshness. Fruits keep in the refrigerator for 5-7 days or are suitable for freezing and processing.
