Seeds are sown for seedlings in February-March, and seedlings are planted in the ground in May. You can also sow seeds directly in the ground in April-May or in September-October before winter.
It prefers partial shade and moist locations, but grows well in the sun too. Ideal is the edge of a pond, stream, or moist flower bed. In full sun, it may require more frequent watering in hot weather.
This moisture-loving plant should be watered 1-2 times per week or so that soil remains moderately moist. In hot weather, it may require daily watering. Do not allow soil to dry out completely.
Fertilize twice a month with mineral fertilizer (NPK 10:10:10) during vegetation. Before flowering, switch to phosphate-potassium fertilizers (NPK 5:10:10) for more abundant flowering.
This is a frost-hardy plant that tolerates down to -30°C. In the middle zone, mulching is sufficient (5-7 cm of compost or peat). In regions with mild winters, it can flower in winter as well.
