    How to care

    Watering

Maintain substrate moisture, but do not waterlog. Soil should be moist like a well-wrung sponge.

    💡Tips
    • Use a light sterile substrate (peat + perlite)
    • Germination temperature 18-20°C
    • Cover container with film to retain moisture

    Frequently asked questions(5)

Sow seeds in late February to early March. At room temperature, seeds germinate within 10-14 days. Plant in open ground in May, after the last frost date has passed.

Main reasons: insufficient light (needs at least 6-8 hours of direct sun), excess nitrogen in fertilizers (stimulates foliage), overwatering. Blooming may also be weak on very hot days or when nutrients are lacking.

Regularly remove faded flowers (deadheading) — this stimulates new bud formation. Feed with flowering plant fertilizer every 10-14 days. In dry periods, ensure regular watering.

In temperate CIS zones, osteospermum is an annual plant. In southern regions (Crimea, Caucasus, southern Moldova) it can overwinter in a protected location with light cover. For reliability, you can take cuttings in autumn and keep plants indoors.

Cut cuttings 7-10 cm long in late summer or autumn. Plant in light substrate (sand + peat), cover with film. Rooting takes 2-3 weeks at 18-20°C. Store rooted cuttings in a cool place all winter, then plant in soil in spring.
