    Frequently asked questions(5)

Radish is sown from March to September directly into the ground. For early spring, start in a greenhouse from February. Summer sowings succeed well with adequate watering. In fall, sow by late August/early September for October harvest.

Hollow roots and bitterness are usually caused by insufficient moisture or shade. Ensure regular watering (at least 3-4 times weekly) and maximum sunlight (6-8 hours daily). Excessively hot weather also affects flavor.

Radish requires frequent watering—daily or every other day in heat. Soil should stay consistently moist but not waterlogged. Insufficient moisture causes toughness and bitterness; excess causes root splitting.

Thinning ensures each plant receives adequate nutrients, water, and light to form smooth, juicy roots of proper size. When overcrowded, plants compete and produce small or misshapen roots.

For continuous radish supply, sow every 2 weeks from March through August. Since radish matures in 16 days, you'll always have fresh young radishes available throughout the season.
