Best to plant in spring (April-May) or early autumn (September-October). Spring planting is preferable for young seedlings as they get the entire growing season to establish roots.
Young bushes (first year) require regular watering 1-2 times per week. Adult plants are drought-tolerant and need watering only during prolonged dry periods. Excess moisture can cause root rot.
In spring, apply nitrogen-rich fertilizer for foliage growth. During flowering and autumn, use fertilizers high in phosphorus and potassium to strengthen the plant and encourage abundant blooming.
Main pruning is done in spring (March-April) before active growth. Shorten last year's shoots by 1/3 to form a full bush. In summer, remove faded flowers. In autumn, perform sanitary pruning, removing weak branches.
Adult bushes (from 3-4 years old) are hardy to -30°C. Young plants in the first 2-3 years should be covered with spruce branches, leaves, or agrotextile. Northern regions may require frame protection.
