Frequently asked questions(6)
Seeds are sown in late February — early March. Seedlings are transplanted into containers on the balcony after May 15–25, when the danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed. Tomatoes are heat-loving, so there's no need to hurry.
Minimum 3–5 liters per plant. You can use pots with a diameter of 20–25 cm. When growing in larger containers (10–20 l), tomatoes will produce a larger harvest.
In summer heat (July–August), water 1–2 times per day (morning and evening). Check soil moisture at 2–3 cm depth with your finger. Soil should be moist but not waterlogged. On cooler days, reduce watering to once a day.
The variety is determinate (compact), but it's recommended to remove lower leaves and side shoots for better ventilation. This reduces the risk of late blight and other fungal diseases. Upper side shoots can be left for a larger harvest.
At the seedling stage, use complex fertilizer (NPK 1:1:1). During vegetation — fertilizer with predominant nitrogen. During flowering and fruiting — monopotassium phosphate or NPK 2:3:3 fertilizer. Feed once every 7–10 days according to instructions.
Tomatoes love sun, but compact cherry varieties can grow on a balcony with 4–6 hours of direct light per day. However, harvest and fruit sweetness will be lower. Ideally 6–8 hours of direct sun.
