Frequently asked questions(6)
Sow at the end of February to early March, so seedlings are ready for transplanting at 50-60 days of age (late April to early May in temperate zones). In warmer regions, shift timing 2-3 weeks earlier.
Provide bright light (12-14 hours per day), moderate watering, temperature 18-22°C during the day and 15-18°C at night. Make two pricking-out sessions. Begin hardening 10-14 days before planting, gradually accustoming plants to outdoor conditions.
Plant in late May to early June, after the risk of frost and when soil warms to 12-15°C. Space 50-60 cm apart. Tie immediately to support. Bury the stem one-third deep to encourage additional root formation.
Water 2-3 times per week depending on weather, deeply and infrequently (avoid overwatering). During vegetative growth feed with nitrogen (NPK 10:10:10) every 2-3 weeks; during flowering and fruiting switch to phosphorus-potassium fertilizers. Alternate between diluted manure and mineral feeds.
Pinching is removing side shoots (suckers) growing between the main stem and leaf. Do this from late June throughout the season, keeping 1-2 main stems. This improves air circulation, reduces disease risk, and promotes better fruiting.
The variety has moderate resistance to major tomato diseases (late blight, leaf mold, septoria). Apply preventive sprays with Bordeaux mixture or systemic fungicides every 10-14 days, especially in wet weather. Improve plant ventilation and remove lower leaves.
