Sow seeds for seedlings in March-April indoors. Plant in open ground after last spring frost, usually in May-June when soil warms to 15-18°C.
Tall verbena blooms from June through October, often until first frost. Regular deadheading extends the flowering period.
Plant is sun-loving, preferring open sunny locations with minimum 6 hours direct sun daily. Soil should be well-drained and moderately fertile. Overwatering is dangerous for roots.
Use balanced fertilizers with elevated phosphorus and potassium content. Fertilize every 2-3 weeks from planting until season end.
In CIS climate, tall verbena is grown as annual. At season end the plant is removed. You can preserve cuttings indoors in winter and propagate vegetatively in spring.
